Schwab Retirement Technologies® Training Schedule
September – November 2008


Schwab Retirement Technologies® (Schwab RT) is happy to announce the Fall 2008 training class schedule.

All training sessions will be offered via WebEx, and advanced registration is required. For registration and participation details, refer to the Webcast Instructions below the class listings.

All courses take place from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. ET.

Schwab Automated Retirement Processing (SchARP): Initial Release 9/22/08 Presenter: Kristen Donovan – SchARP is Schwab RT’s workflow management tool that allows for certain repetitive tasks to be automated, minimizing exposure to risk and increasing operational efficiencies. This presentation includes the set up and operation of the initial SchARP release, including tasks such as Advance System Date, Process Participant Requests, and Settle and Release Trades. SchARP: Payroll Processing 9/24/08 Presenter: Betty Lutchmaya – SchARP functionality allows users to upload a payroll file, perform data checks, display a payroll processing status, and provide a payroll history. This presentation walks you through the steps for defining the parameters associated with and the processing of a payroll file. Click to register.
Automated Contribution Arrangements (ACA) and SchARP 10/1/08 Presenter: Betty Lutchmaya – ACA allows for new plan participants to be set-up with a minimum deferral percentage and regular annual deferral increases. The default investment election for these participants is defined at the plan-level and may be customized based on age. The SchARP processes with ACA include participant notification and confirmation letters. This presentation covers the ACA functionality available on Schwab RT Recordkeeping.  Click to register.
SchARP: Trading & File Transfer 10/9/08 Presenter: Frank Seta – SchARP allows users to automate the process of creating trade files and processing trade confirmations between Schwab RT Recordkeeping and Charles Schwab Trust Company (CSTC) and to automate and schedule the transmission of files to and from both CSTC and Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (Broker/Dealer) using SchwabLink®.  This presentation covers each of these new features. Click to register.
SchARP: Fee Processing 10/15/08 Presenter: Jeffrey Ayers –SchARP fee processing is available and offers automation, unlimited fee templates, greater flexibility, additional options, and enhanced reporting.   This presentation covers the set up requirements and the steps involved in fees processed using SchARP. Mutual Fund Trading Restrictions 10/22/08 Presenter: Claudia George – Mutual fund companies may set trading restrictions or require additional information about the investors in their funds. This presentation covers the set-up and processing of redemption fees and excessive trading restrictions. It also addresses the set-up and reporting requirements for compliance with SEC Rule 22c-2 and for handling the complex issues faced when working with multiple trading partners. Click to register.  
Schwab RT Release 3.0 Overview 10/29/08 Presenter: Mary Ann Coss–The Schwab RT 3.0 Release includes important features for Schwab RT Recordkeeping, Web, and SchARP.  This presentation covers the highlights of the new release, including the elimination of the v-files, the ability to have greater than 50 funds and 15 sources in a plan, the ability for a participant to have multiple self-directed brokerage accounts, additional security for Schwab RT applications, and a newly designed plan sponsor and financial advisor website. Schwab RT Security 11/5/08 Presenter: Mary Ann Coss – The Schwab RT 3.0 Release introduces a new, role-based security system that lets you customize each user's access rights based on the specific tasks that user performs. You can restrict users to specific applications, menu options, plans, plan groups, and SchARP business activities. New security wizards also allow you to clone existing users and to manage email groups, SchARP roles, and recordkeeping profiles. Click to register.
Compliance Testing Preparation and Processing 11/11/08 Presenter: Frank Seta – Compliance testing requires important preparation, including data validation testing, prior participant file population, and memo posting. This presentation covers these preparations, provides information on the set-up requirements and explains the compliance testing applications on Schwab RT Recordkeeping. Eligibility Determination and Reporting

11/18/08

Presenter: Claudia George –Eligibility based on hours and improved eligibility reporting, both of which became available with the 2.6 release in May 2008, will be covered in this presentation.  The use and set up of automated contribution arrangements and qualified default investment alternatives will also be discussed.     • Select “General File Downloads – for all” under “Select Downloads” and then click “Go”.
